Question: Since I have repartnered, my son has said he doesn’t want to come over to my house every second weekend anymore and he refuses to speak to me on the phone. Last time I saw my son he said that mummy said that I had a “new family now”. My son also asked me whether I still love him. I am concerned that my ex-partner is turning my son against me. Can you assist?

Answer: Yes, concerns that one parent might be alienating the child / children against the other are not uncommon after separation. I am able to assist when these sorts of issues arise, please contact me on (09) 263-6953 or email me jeremy@jeremysutton.co.nz

Q: My wife died last year and there is to be a coroners inquest held next month. I am not working and have no assets. Can I get legal aid?

A: Thank you for your questions. Yes legal aid is available for coroners inquests but you will need to fill out the relevant form. Not all lawyers do legal aid work. There are normally medico legal questions and the hearings can take many days.
There is an excellent coroners website and also see the legal services agency website- www.lsa.govt.nz
I have expertise in this field- call me to make an appointment on +64 (9) 263 6953 or email me on jeremy@jeremysutton.co.nz
