Free legal advice and legal aid
Q How can I talk to a lawyer for free?
If you ring your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) office, most of them have a list of rostered lawyers one night a week or at the weekend. The lawyers that help the CAB are free. You can book in to see them for about 15 minutes.
Many lawyers including myself, are happy to talk to you on the phone for free initially. You may qualify for legal aid if your income is modest especially if you are not working or you have few assets.
