Bill of Rights Claims
This area of law is still developing. Our cases in the Courts range from the District Court through to the Supreme Court.
In human rights matters in Tribunals, the Bill of Rights Act 1990 also applies.
We are working on a number of cases for clients including the following:
- Unlawful search and seizure
- Denial of the right to a lawyer
- Arbitrary arrest or detention
- Right to be tried without undue delay
- Right in the case of a child to take account of the child’s age
- Right not to be subject to cruel, degrading or disproportionately severe treatment
- Right to justice
- Double jeopardy
We conduct these cases on legal aid or privately. We are referred cases by other lawyers on a regular basis.
